Freelance countryside ranger, Elizabeth Tindal, will be joining us our holiday cottage guests at Corsewall Estate on Wednesday, 28th October for a fun afternoon in the woods on this Galloway country estate doing bug hotel and den building. We’re hoping children and grown-ups will roll their sleeves up and get stuck in!
With Elizabeth, our guests will be looking at places where minibeasts like to live and then creating this on a grand scale. Everyone will make a hotel with lots of places where spiders, millipedes and even ladybirds will love to stay. It will be hard work collecting materials and putting them in right places, but it will be worth it as you will find minibeasts ready to move in to their new home before the hotel is even finished. The minibeast hotel should last for many years and can be visited to see what has changed and what is living in the area around it.
After having made a place for minibeasts to stay, Elizabeth will be making dens using the natural materials around the woodland at Corsewall. She will help you to think about what makes a good den and how to build it safely and the end product will be a great den to play in for the rest of guests’ stay.
We still have availability at our new luxury Portpatrick holiday house, Cedar Lodge, which sleeps 8, during October and in particular the English October half term from 24-31 October – so book up now and come and join us creating the mini beast boutique hotels and dens at Corsewall Estate Holiday Cottages!
