We have another busy afternoon planned for our half term holiday cottage guests with talented countryside ranger and artist, Elizabeth Tindal. Elizabeth will be showing the guests how to make clay faces using clay she has collected from the shore at Corsewall Estate to sculpt faces for the trees. This is a fun and creative activity where you can imagine the stories behind the trees and give them personalities and faces. I gather everyone will have the chance to make a stick person with a clay head to take home too.

Elizabeth is also going demonstrate how to weave using natural materials. Guests will make a loom using string and branches. Then, having collected lots of bits and pieces from around the estate from twigs and grasses to plant stems, shells and feathers, they will get creative, weaving a unique hanging of their own. Elizabeth is also planning to make a larger frame for Corsewall Estate Holiday Cottages that will be left there, to which guests can add things during their stay.

Together the weaving and the clay faces will be lovely holiday mementos for the children to take home.  I can’t wait to see all the wild and wonderful creations and look forward to sharing the photos with everyone.
