We appreciate when you are on holiday, you might want a complete break from the kitchen. With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with local professional chef, Maria Salzmann, to offer you a wonderful range of fresh dishes you can order and have delivered direct to your door during your stay. Just think, all you have to do is pop them in the oven, absolutely no cooking involved whatsoever!
Maria who lives locally and runs the much-acclaimed Fig and Olive Café in Stranraer, is a trained chef and has many years’ experience having cooked for large events, in restaurants and private homes. Maria, who describes her cooking style as ‘Australian-Mediterranean’, prepares all the fresh dishes where possible using local and seasonal produce and definitely no additives or preservatives.
She has a wide range of fresh dishes from which to choose: from classic fish pie and chickpea, kale and chestnut mushroom Wellington to chilli, aniseed and orange confit of duck. When it comes to puddings, you can choose from a mouth-watering choice including raspberry and vanilla parfait, classic citron tart, cherry pithivier, whisky & walnut tart, classic bread and butter pudding and Individual seasonal berry baked cheesecakes.
With prices from £25 to £65, Maria supplies them fresh to your holiday house in earthenware dishes (returnable please!). To avoid disappointment, please can you give as much notice as possible – ideally a minimum of two weeks.
Allergy advice: please note that nuts are used in Fig and Olive’s kitchen, therefore, all items may contain traces of nuts. Fig and Olive cater to a wide range of dietary requirements please don’t hesitate to ask, as the Café makes all their own gluten free products in house.
Delivery charges are £15 to the cottages on Corsewall Estate and £15 to Cedar Lodge in Portpatrick.
